About IISc Bangalore
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was established in 1909 with active support from Jamsetji Tata and is located in Bangalore, India's science and technology hub. It is a public institute for research and higher education in science and engineering.
IISc is renowned for its interdisciplinary research, state-of-the-art facilities, and a vibrant academic community. It offers a unique environment conducive to learning, research, and innovation. The institute's sprawling 400-acre campus is home to over 40 departments and centres, 400 faculty members, and 4000 students.

Admission to IISc's programmes is highly competitive, based on academic merit and performance in national/international entrance tests.
Key Admission Pathways:
- PhD: GATE/JEST/NET or IISc Entrance Test, followed by an interview.
- MTech: GATE score and interview.
- MSc (Research): JAM or IISc Entrance Test and interview.
- BS (Research): KVPY/IIT-JEE (Advanced)/NEET-UG or IISc Entrance Test.
